The story of Abby & Weylin…
How did you meet?
Weylin and I met in Aurora, Colorado at a discipleship training program!
Describe your first date…
We went on our first date to Texas Roadhouse!
Share your proposal story…
Weylin told me we were going out to eat at a fancy restaurant and had asked me to dress up. He picked me up and drove me to his house because he “forgot to brush his teeth”. He left the car and took a while to come back. When he came back, he got into the car and sat there for a second and said “Let’s go for a quick walk…”. He got back out of the car and walked over to my side, opened the door, and that’s when I saw he had a blindfold and earphones in his hands. He blindfolded me and put the earphones in my ears. He played “Never Stop by Safetysuit” and walked me to a special spot where he sat me down. When I sat down, he took the earphones out and the blindfold off. He had decorated a wooded area behind his house with lights and had set the chair I was sitting in in the middle of a heart made of lights. He told me how he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and asked me to marry him 🙂
How did you know you had found “the one”?
Abby – There was a period of time during the discipleship training program when I had to leave Colorado and go home for my brother’s wedding. When I was in the Colorado airport, I lost it. I started crying in the airport and then on the plane. I was thinking about how it would feel to go home and never see him again at the end of the summer. I felt sick to my stomach and prayed that God would take my feelings away if it wasn’t what He had planned for me. God began intensifying our feelings for each other when I came back to Colorado, and after getting to know his amazing heart more and more, I just knew Weylin was going to be my husband someday.

Weylin – During the discipleship training program I kept developing deeper and deeper feelings for Abby. I prayed so often that God would take them away so my focus could be fully on Him. It wasn’t until later that i felt that the feelings i had for Abby were from Him. But I can say I didn’t know she was “the one” until we were in Honduras together. We had gone to a school to help the staff and seeing the way she interacted with the children warmed my heart. Later on in the evening, it began to rain heavily, and I remember coming down the stairs and seeing her trying to dry off in the hotel lobby. She had a pink tropical flower tucked behind her ear. In that moment it was like God showed me the most beautiful person in the world. I can’t explain it, but that was the moment I just knew.
Describe who you are as a couple…
We’re inseparable best friends who love each other with our whole hearts. We’re always teasing each other and goofing around.
How do you like to spend time together?
We like to do everything together, but our favorite times together are spent cuddling, eating, and watching movies or TV shows.
Describe your ideal date night…
We’re pretty basic, haha. We like to go out to dinner and to the movies. 🙂
What do you love most about the other?
Abby – It’s hard to pick something that I love “most” about Weylin. He is everything I’ve ever wanted in a husband. If I had to pick one thing, it would be his genuine love for God and people. He has a very loving, sensitive heart for God and for people who are hurting – it’s very admirable and contagious.

Weylin – It is impossible to narrow just one quality that I love most about her. But there is one thing that really stood out to me when we first started talking. When she would hear other peoples testimonies, you could see in her face that she was loving and empathetic to their circumstances, and someone with that kind of understanding for others is who I had always prayed for.
Describe your wedding day vision and what details you’re most excited about…
Our wedding theme is “A Vintage Garden Party”. I envision it to be very romantic and whimsical with a classy, Victorian feel. Our colors are ivory and champagne with romantic ivory flowers, eucalyptus and other greenery and lots of glitz and sparkles.
What moment(s) are you most excited about for your wedding day?
Abby – I’m super excited to see him at the front of the aisle awaiting me, the first kiss, and FINALLY being able to sign the papers and make it official, hehe. 🙂
Weylin – To see her in her wedding dress walking towards me!
What advice or encouragement would you like to share with planning brides?
Don’t wait until the last minute to plan out the little details. If you’re working a full-time job, the last few months before your wedding will be extremely stressful if you don’t plan ahead for the little things. It’s very, very hard to get it all done when you’re so tired after a long day at work and there is so much to do.
What are you most excited about for marriage?
Abby – I’m excited to just get to hang out with him all the time. To be able to go to sleep and wake up with him every day and drink coffee and make breakfast with him on Saturdays. And find out all of the other little ways in which God has created him as a person and find ways to love him more.
Weylin – I’m excited to just do life together, every morning, night and day!
