To my Valentine

Hello world! Becca here. 🙂 I usually write in an actual card for Valentine’s Day, but since we now have a BLOG (!!!) I thought I would use it to brag some on my hubby. You all know Matt as a talented photographer and friend. Today, I thought I’d let you see him a bit through my eyes.

To my Valentine…

Matt, you are my favorite person. The BEST person I know. My very best friend. You are strong, humble, wise, patient, gentle, a servant-leader of our family, loving, truth-speaking, a man of both words and action, funny (actually, hilarious!), handsome, courageous, consistent, steady, a risk-taker, thoughtful, slow to anger, sees the best in others, forgives easily, respected, trustworthy, a man of integrity, faithful, confident, a person who endures and perseveres, a great provider for our family, compassionate, content, self-less, a dreamer, adventurous, capable, motivated by love, lives by faith, chooses hope and joy, clings to grace…you are my one and only and I’m CRAZY about you. 🙂 Looking back on our college years, I remember the wise advice mom gave me…”Becca, you need to hang out in the library so you can meet and marry a doctor or lawyer”. My sweet mother was clearly terrified for my well-being…I’m 100% an artist! Like a good daughter, I took her advice to heart. I found another artist. 😉 Matt, marrying you will forever be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and sweetest adventures I’ll ever take in this life. I’m so thankful I’m doing it all with you. From “day one” you’ve let me be me. You’ve given me support, encouragement, and space to grow. You’ve loved me unconditionally, you’ve pursued me, you’ve sought to understand me, you’ve laid down your life for me, you’ve trusted me with your heart, you’ve forgiven me, and “called me up” to becoming the person I’m meant to be. I know I’m your one and only, too. So, what I’m trying to say is…you’re pretty great. 😉 Not perfect, but pretty unbelievably great. It’s no mystery to me why you’re sooo great. “Like father, like son”. Greg Renaud deserves some props here. Even though I’ve never met him, I’ve always felt like I’ve known your dad simply because of your amazing character. The incredible way you love me and others is evidence that you were fathered well. And not just by your dad, but by your Heavenly Dad. You are a son of The Most High God, Matt. You’ve given Jesus your heart and life – it’s no longer yours but His. He has shaped, molded and used your heart and life for His purposes. Only God can change a heart BUT you’ve chosen to let Him. You chose “once and for all” years ago when you first met Jesus, and I watch you choose Him daily still. Not perfectly, but consistently. Matt, I am proud to be your wife in every way. I trust you, respect you, and I’m glad to follow you as you lead our family. I can’t wait to see what this year holds for us. It won’t be perfect, but it will be good because we’ll be with Jesus, and I’ll be with you. I love you.
