The story of Sara & Aaron…

How did you meet?
Simply put, we met at work! I teach preschool and Aaron started working at the same school part time while finishing his undergrad degree.

Describe your first date…
We had originally planned a lunch date at Limestone Blue but I unfortunately came down with food poisoning the night before! As you can imagine after a long night of unpleasant-ness I was not quite ready to eat a meal… especially for the first time in front of my new heartthrob! After assuring Aaron I was not trying to bail on the date he suggested meeting at Jacobson Park so I could get some fresh air and we could still spend time together. We sat on a park bench and talked for (literally) hours! The rest is history!

Share your proposal story…
Since we met at the preschool, Aaron planned a complete surprise proposal on the playground our two classrooms played on and where we first started to get to know each other! Aaron roped one of our coworkers into planning a fancy dinner get-together on a Saturday evening. We stopped at the school to meet up with her and when arrived I could see a small white tent and a person on the playground. Aaron convinced me (more like pulled me along)  to approach the gate. He opened it and I found the person was a photographer pointing her camera right at me! Under the tent was a small table with a large bouquet of flowers and a display of pictures of Aaron and I. We walked up to the table and he got down on one knee and said “The first time I saw you on this playground I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

How did you know you had found “the one”?
Bride: I knew Aaron was “the one” because he is wholeheartedly one of the most selfless human beings I have ever met. Selflessness is one of the many qualities that made him so attractive but also made me want to learn from him and better myself. 

Groom: When I would change my daily schedule just so I could spend as little as one extra minute with her. I realized then that she was someone who was truly special to me.

Describe who you are as a couple…
We are best friends and have been almost inseparable since the very beginning of our relationship. We are a great team – so far our super strong bond has helped us tackle life’s ever changing obstacles.

How do you like to spend time together?
We love spending time together doing anything from everyday tasks to extraordinary adventures! We like to snuggle up on the couch and watch one of our favorite movies but also love to spend time outdoors at our local park or take a hike somewhere new. We like to exercise together but also try new restaurants around town because we love food!

Describe your ideal date night…
Eating at one of our favorite restaurants , and then seeing a movie, preferably at the Kentucky Theater.  Then afterwards, ice cream at Crank and Boom to finish the night.

What do you love most about the other?
Bride: What I love most about Aaron is his kindness, his ability to be understanding and empathetic in any situation, and how smart he is!

Groom: What I love about Sara is her smile and look that could melt an iceberg, her giving nature, and her ability to tackle any obstacle she faces.

Describe your wedding day vision. What specific details/decor are you most excited about and why?
My wedding day feels light, bright, airy and welcoming. I imagine it to be simple but everything is cohesive and brought together by attention to detail. I’m most excited about the flowers and bridesmaids dresses that will all be based around my favorite color – yellow!

What moment(s) are you most excited about for your wedding day?  Bride: I’m most excited to say “I do” in front of all of our friends and family! I can’t wait to have all of the people we care about together under one roof!

Groom: That first moment I can see Sara in her dress, and how beautiful she is. Additionally, I look forward to when the ceremony is complete and Sara and I can begin to celebrate our marriage.

What advice or encouragement would you like to share with planning brides?
Take the planning process one step at a time instead of trying to tackle the entirety of the wedding day all at once! It’s a big day (not to mention the shower, bachelorette party and post wedding honeymoon!). Break down the details and set small goals for yourself!

What are you most excited about for marriage?
Bride: I’m most excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. I can’t wait to see how our future days unfold and how Aaron grows into an even more handsome and intelligent man!

Groom: Getting to see where our lives will take us in the future, and knowing I have a wife in Sara that will support, challenge, and be there for me through all life will throw at me.
